Homemade Sun Jars

Homemade Sun Jars
With all the discussion about having a safe light in baby's room, I discovered these sun jars, which use a solar powered LED light. Keep them by a window during the day and you'll have a great low-light source for the night that you don't have to worry about turning off. I found a tutorial on Instructables and I am curious to try this out and see how it works/how long the light would last. I heard that upgrading to a high powered battery will give you a stronger light that will last longer.

You can usually find a solar garden light at your neighborhood home improvement store, or I found a package of 6 selling for $16.67 on Amazon.com. I've also read that some people added glass pebbles or rock to the jar to create a different effect. I'll keep my eye out for other baby night light ideas and pass them on as I find them! - Trisha

This looks totally cool. I love the idea! And what a neat gift for expectant parents… something homemade and useful. My hankerchief-lamp is officially trumped by the jar-solar-lamp

I second Leigh’s comment--great idea and a wonderful homemade gift!
