Make your own diaper cream

Make your own diaper cream
I am a label reader. I like to read the labels of everything I buy for my daughter, including her diaper cream. Most of the time I don't understand what half of the things listed are. I found a recipe to make your own diaper cream, and by adding a few more ingredients you can turn it into a cream for yeast infections. (Note that the instructions for this recipe appear above the ingredients...)

The best part is, I know what all the ingredients are! Beeswax, olive oil, garlic, and tea tree oil. That's all you need! No preservatives or strange chemicals that could irritate that delicate skin even more. - Trisha

I like the idea of homemade diaper cream, but my ped told me about a year ago to not use products with beeswax on my son (I don’t remember why, I had a new baby and all is a blur...).  I also don’t think the wax would be good for cloth diaperers, I doubt that would come out in the wash.

Savvy, let us know if you have seen a source linking beeswax to some sort of risk for babies. It appears widely used in natural diaper care creams, including Weleda, Burt’s Bee’s… so I wouldn’t really fear it without some good documentation.
