Our kid is just starting on solid foods, and we are running into two issues.

1. He’s a total mess
   
2. His neck is a lot smaller than the opening of his bibs

The neck size thing wouldn’t be an issue if there wasn’t a constant stream of spit-diluted pureed peaches running down his chin and into the collar of his onesies. I am by no means a neat freak, but if the bib is supposed to help me keep this kid clean, it needs to be somewhat snug in that area to create a barrier between his collar and his dribble.

Enter the most prosaic of all tools, the safety pin. Called the safety pin because it was invented for safe pinning of diapers to babies, this little item is now my best friend.

Place the bib on the baby. Pinch a Z-shaped gather of fabric between your fingers to make the neck of the bib fit juuuust right. If the bib is only mildly too small, you can make a V-shaped pinch instead. Remove bib from baby. Skewer fabric neatly with the pin. Enjoy not having to change the kid’s shirt after every single food fight... I mean, feeding.
