Over the past few weeks, I have found myself nesting, which is pretty typical as moms prepare for the arrival of a new baby. We got the crib and cradle all set up, clothes and diapers are washed and put away, and I even managed to dig out all the pieces to my breast pump so that they are ready to go when we are.
But, I am beginning to think this whole nesting thing for me has also started getting a wee bit out of control. Does anyone else have this problem? I realized this yesterday when I again examined THE LIST - all of the things we still need to do before this baby arrives (which, might I mention, is now less than two weeks away). Right now, I am in a moment of apparent lucidity, and I can see that this all-important list has some mighty crazy things on it. (Please, don’t tell my husband - I have been nagging him constantly!) What are some of the worst?
- Buy brown shoes
- Clean up the wood behind the shed
- Put the doorstop up in the guest room
- Organize the basement
- Get pictures developed from March through now
- Put above pictures into albums
I am hoping I am not the only one out there who has become obsessive about making sure laundry doesn’t pile up and that the yard stays weed-free. Right now, I am going to chalk this whole nesting thing up to a need to show the baby that I am ready to devote as much time to him as possible when he arrives. That doesn’t make me an insane person; it just makes me a typical new mother... right?
