I'm not sure what is stranger, the fact that this vibrating teether cannot be manually shut off (it automatically runs for seven minutes after its "ON" button is pressed), or its creators' demonstrably false suggestion that there is something revolutionary about a teether that vibrates. The First Years' Massaging Teether makes far more sense to us, as it is activated by pressure. I suppose the Je Je might be better suited to babies who bite only gently, but those are also probably the youngest and the least in need of actual relief. The one thing this device has going for it is that the battery can be replaced, but its battery life is likely to be far shorter than powered teethers which only vibrate during jaw-on-teether action.

Since the Je Je teether oscillates erratically between two levels of vibrational sound, one of which Does Not Sound Right, you'll feel downright silly the first time you pull this out for baby, are interrupted or find it unwished-for, and have to spend the next six and a half minutes with it vibrating in your purse before it shuts off.
